Scattering Ashes
Scattering of ashes at sea seems to have become an increasing request over recent years. Quite a number of boat operators now offer their boats for charter for this type of personal service. You can also organise for annual memorial services and wreath laying.

We are happy to undertake the scattering of ashes from the beautiful "Song and Dance".
Our area of operation is primarily The Medway/North Kent coast, but are prepared to travel further if desired. We accommodate the requirements of all religions (or none), subject to you, the client, obtaining any necessary permissions. (Your undertaker will see to this for you).
"Song and Dance" is well suited for this service, with her large bathing platform from which the scattering can take place. She has a first rate sound system, so if you wish to have music to accompany the ceremony, feel free to bring your CD/ iPod.
We will provide tea/coffee, and can arrange other catering to your order. We are licensed for the sale of alcohol.
Our price will depend entirely on your requirements, but start at £150/hour in the high season.

Scattering or Laying to Rest of Ashes
Today in England and Wales, over 75% of all funerals are cremations: and in around 70% of those cremations the ashes are taken home by loved ones. Usually the ashes are then scattered or laid to rest at a place which has some meaning to the deceased or to the loved ones, or in accordance with faith or cultural beliefs. Around Ferry Meadows the River Nene is at its most beautiful with many unique and picturesque spots. Where better as a final resting place and somewhere to return to time and time again to enjoy fond memories? Your choices for your loved one depend on whether you wish to scatter the ashes or lay them to rest at a specific location. In either case, all arrangements, including those on the boat on the day, will be conducted personally by our company owner Bob Currell. Bob previously worked for a Funeral Director for many years and has conducted a number of ceremonies on different boats over the last 5 years. You can be assured of the appropriate care, dignity and respect: and we can help with as much or as little of the arrangements as you require, even collecting the ashes from your Funeral Director and preparing the ashes container if you wish. Whether you want a jolly, happy celebration or a more reserved ceremony on the day, we will look after you and your loved one at every stage. You can say a few words at the scattering or laying to rest, or Bob will be pleased to do this for you. You may bring some favourite music to play as well; and afterwards, if you wish, you can continue for a cruise and bring some light refreshments or perhaps use one of the cafes in Ferry Meadows.

We operate from Pwllheli in North Wales and we have a number of beautiful, tranquil sheltered coves and bays where we conduct the scattering of ashes. Most of these sites are frequented by the resident dolphins, which gives a special significance for many people. 'Shearwater' is a large spacious luxury charter cruiser that in itself, lends dignity to such an occasion.
