Bridlington Sailing Coble Preservation Society

Our 1912 sailing coble is currently being refurbished (see photographs on www.bridlington.net/community/mike-wilson.htm. The Bridlington Sailing Coble Preservation Society handed a cheque for £20,000 to Bridlington Harbour Commissioners (the owners of the boat) and work commenced immediately. She is now in the maintenance facility but it is hoped Three Brothers will be sailing in the early summer. She is normally moored in Bridlington harbour at the foot of the cobbled roadway leading down from Prince Street. She is 40ft long and after refurbishment she is to be varnished. She will hopefully sail on Sundays mostly during the summer months, tide, weather and crew permitting. The Bridlington Harbour Heritage Museum (summer season, 10am to 4pm daily) is manned by members of the Society and the funds raised go towards the upkeep of the vessel. Members of the public are not allowed to sail in her, only members of the Society, at £5.00 per year. She is visible in the harbour at all times. Funds are still needed to see the vessel safely into the future. The website has been updated and is now www.bridsailingcoble.org.uk.
