    Jersey - July 2007

We just returned from a micro-break to Jersey on a catamaran ferry from Weymouth in Dorset. The trip cost just under 110 per person and included taking our car plus 1 night of accommodation on the island. The Ferry has huge 28,000hp engines which made the journey very fast and covered the 100 plus miles to Jersey in 3hrs 45mins (it would have been faster but the ferry also stops at Guernsey to drop off and collect passengers). Onboard there is a duty free shop, children's TV room\play area, business class, a restaurant, bar and observation deck as well as the usual baby changing and toilet facilities. I spent much of my time at the rear of the boat on the observation deck enjoying the view. It can be very windy out there especially at the sides so you may want to keep a tight hold on your hat, if you have one. I would also recommend taking advantage of the free coffee refills to keep warm when you are outside. I hadn't been on a ferry since I was a child however I have flown many times and I was amazed at just how much legroom you get with a standard ticket on the boat. Driving the car on and off couldn't have been easier, it's just like driving into a mutli-story car park. It's a far more relaxing way to travel than flying.
