Mid August Mailsplat
Just a quickie, the delivery planning of Heartbeat IV, a Dufour 45e, from Burnham-on-Crouch to Malta is going well, but I have one crew member joining during a short stop in Dartmouth on 17th or 18th September. I therefore have space for one crew to join at Burnham on 14th September and get a couple of days experience of the preparation and planning of a long passage and to add some miles to their belt. 200 a head. Please email me if interested.
August 2011 MailSplat

I have been asked to deliver a Dufour 45e from Burnham-on-Crouch to Malta. This delivery will be run with four legs:
Leg 1 B-on-C to Bayona in northern Spain
Leg 2 Bayona to Gibraltar
Leg 3 Gibraltar to Palma, Majorca
Leg 4 Majorca to Malta
Legs 1 and 2 will be ideal for those who wish to complete a Yachtmaster Ocean passage of 600M+
http://www.dufour-yachts.com/boat-dufour-45e-p-4.html is the link to see the boat.
Theory Courses
I shall be running all theory courses including the short range certificate for the VHF radio from October onwards, either in Cheltenham, Hampshire or near anyone who can drum up a total of four to take a course.
Practical Sailing
Weekend, five or seven day sailing courses will continue throughout the winter, as normal. Why not take advantage of the cheaper rates?
I do hope that you are getting in some sailing, if not, give me a call and I will try to organise something suitable for you!
Sticky's July MailSplat
Not enough wind this last weekend, but we had an excellent opportunity to practise power skills with a near spring tide. I was sailing with Flexi Sail out of Port Hamble. The victuals were excellent!
I offer the following:
16th July: Radio course in Cheltenham, I have two bookings for this and have space for a further two. See my website for details.
24th - 31st July: I have one berth left for a week's experience and mileage building sail. We could cross the Channel or sail down to the Scillies and back or weather allowing do all three.
19th - 21st August: Budget weekend sail, three berths available.
2nd - 4th September: Weekend sail.
16th - 18th September: Budget weekend sail. All berths taken.
If there are any courses you want or need, email me and I will fit you in. I am about to sign up to the new RYA Interactive courses, so if any of you would like to have a go, at your own speed, at the Essential Navigation and Seamanship course, let me know.
Are there any wives or girlfriends who would like a gentle reminder of things nautical without the husband, boyfriend around? Provide we can make a quorum, I could allocate one of the weekends just for ladies. Maybe some boat owners would like their nearest and dearest to be taught on their own boats?
Looking ahead to the autumn, I will be running Day Skipper and Yachtmaster theory courses over three weekends over three months, please let me know your interest. The advantage of my system is that you have a weekend of instruction followed by four weeks for background reading, playing with the electronic package and working through the exercises.
I run the Yachtmaster Ocean course over five days but can split that over two weekends if there are enough takers.
The re-enactment of the 100 Guinea Cup is now featured on my website. Up to 9 J class yachts racing round the Isle of Wight.
Pray for good sailing weather.
Sticky's MailSplat for June 2011
Had an excellent sail last weekend, gusts up to f7, so we flew the storm jib. An interesting exercise because with a lot of charter boats they just put the sail on the boat and do nothing about the tack strop, sheets or whether it is practical to lash the headsail sans sheets. We sorted things out.
I offer the following:
17th - 19th June. Weekend sail either a budget weekend or training.
2nd July. Radio course in Cheltenham, I have one booking for this and have space for a further two.
8th - 10th July. Weekend sail.
24th - 31st July. I have one contender for a week's experience and mileage building sail. We could cross the Channel or sail down to the Scillies and back or weather allowing do all three.
19th - 21st August. Budget weekend sail, three berths available.
2nd - 4th September. Weekend sail.
16th - 18th September. Budget weekend sail. All berths taken.

Sticky's MailSplatt for May 2011
I have chartered a boat for seven days from Friday 20th May and am running a competent crew and day skipper course. I only have two signed up at the moment and seek reinforcements at any level. I am planning on running budget weekend sails like I did last year. Hopefully one a month out of Gosport. I provide the boat and any instruction needed. All food, bacon butties for breakfast, sandwich for lunch and sup ashore, fuel and mooring costs shared by crew.
17th - 19th June
8th - 10th July
18th - 21st August
16th - 18th September
220 a head, Friday night to Sunday pm. I hope to be able to reduce this price.
Still running own boat tuition weekends or weeks, all theory courses, all practical sailing courses and anything else you may want.
Please email me or phone if interested.
