Wednesday November 16th, Nicolette Jones, The Plimsoll Line
What inspired the London Transport logo, banished 'coffin-ships' and saved thousands of sailors lives? Find out from the author of "The Plimsoll Sensation". Writer, journalist and broadcaster, Nicolette will relate the story of an MP's campaign to improve the lot of sailors - battling ship owners (and even parliament) who were more interested in profits than sailors' lives. Nicolette's authoritative book has received excellent reviews and has been chosen as one of Radio 4's Books of the week. This will be an interesting and thought provoking evening and of much interest to sailors, historians and all aspiring authors. Copies of Nicolette's book will be available. Gerrards Cross memorial centre bar opens 19:45 for 20:00 talk.

Wednesday November 2nd, Robert Fellowes, Kent to the Lofoten Islands and back
In the 2011 season Robert cruised in his Cromarty 36 motor sailor 'Chookapa' from Kent via Shetland to the Lofoten Islands and Narvik. After a three week cruise he returned to Kent via Bergen and the East Coast of Denmark. An amazing voyage full of scenery, culture, ships, and cruising in congenial company.
