Sealife-Adventures Trip Calender
Sealife-adventures is a Visit Scotland 4 star Wildlife Experience. We run wildlife, whirlpool and whale watching trips from our purpose-built easy access pontoon and private car park on Seil, a scenic 30 minute drive south of Oban. Our boat offers a unique combination of uncrowded comfort, stability and exceptional speed from silenced twin engines. All trips are skippered by David, a marine biologist who has been an owner/skipper in this area for 25 years. Our enthusiastic wildlife guide will provide commentary, binoculars and an endless supply of hot drinks and biscuits. We have a toilet on board. We have scheduled the following trips for the next few days, pre-booking is strongly advised. We can schedule in other trips to suit you.
Please phone us on 01852 300 203 (eve and weekend) or 01631 57 10 10 (office hours), if you wish to book or for more information or if you wish us to schedule in more trips.

GXSA (Gerrards Cross Sailing Association)
www.gxsa.org.uk
GXSA Joint Special Event with the Ocean Cruising Club. Friday April 19th. Talk by: Matt Rutherford. Fortitudine Vincimus - "By endurance we Conquer"
Matt Rutherford is a very very special yachtsman. In 2012, he completed a 27,000 nm trip solo and non stop anticlockwise round both North and South America - from the Northwest Passage to Cape Horn, and back to Chesapeake Bay. That's not all - his boat is a small, modest, 1960s designed 27' yacht which he fitted out for the trip and named 'St Brendan' after the legendary Irish navigator. He did the voyage to show people, particularly those with disabilities, that there are no limits to what can be accomplished in life; and to raise money for a non profit sailing program for people with disabilities based in Annapolis, Maryland. Matt is on a short visit to the UK to receive the prestigious OCC's Jester Medal donated by the Jester Trust, and awarded for an outstanding contribution to the art of singlehanded sailing. He will be presented with this coveted award at a special dinner the day following this talk. We are both privileged and honoured that he has agreed to talk to us. The event will be held at All Saint's Church Hall, Oval Way Gerrards Cross, SL9 8QB which is just over 1m north of our usual venue. The hall is located behind the church. There is adequate on-street parking near the church and some limited extra parking immediately adjacent to the hall. The talk will start at 20:15hr (doors open 19:30hr). Admission £5 for non GXSA members - refreshments available. Late News - Matt will be interviewed by Libbie Purvis on Radio 4 Midweek programme on Wednesday between 9:00 and 9:45am.

Appledore Sails

Are you interested in sailing to Lundy?
Appledore Sails boats are due to be back in the water at the beginning of April and I have a customer who would like to share a day sail on Patron to Lundy, at a weekend, with anyone interested. The price for the day is 300, and the cost will be shared equally by all those who would like to join him. I can take up to four more people - no young children. Obviously the day is subject to the weather and landing on the island, for those who wish, is subject to no Easterly in the wind as the swell gets too heavy for the tender to land safety, so some flexibility on dates will be needed. If you are interested please let me know and we can see what can be arranged.
Have a wonderful Christmas
Appledore Sails wishes you a Wonderful Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year.
Although the boats are out of the water receiving their annual TLC, I am taking bookings now for 2013 and would like to remind you that I offer personalised vouchers for Christmas, birthday, anniversary and any other type of present you would like to give. Prices will be held for 2013 at 2012 rates plus I am introducing a reduced one and a half hour trip on Jez-y-belle
Appledore Sails - Sailing the Estuary, Bristol Channel and beyond
Privately charter 'Patron', Appledore Sails' 31 foot skippered yacht, just for yourselves for a short trip over Bideford Bar, for a day trip to Lundy or Clovelly, for a weekend or longer including trips to Wales, Scillies, Ireland or further. Book-a-Berth trips are also available where two or three lone sailors join together for a great sailing experience. Appledore Sails caters for those who have never been on a yacht before through to experienced sailors who wish to build miles and night passages before undertaking their Yachtmaster Exams.
Appledore Sails also provides the opportunity to sail on a very pretty locally made two masted 15 foot traditional Appledore lugger 'Jez-y-belle' with a qualified skipper. A couple, family or small group of friends can enjoy two to three hour boat trips around the Torridge Taw Estuary under sails or motor, depending on weather or preference. Trips start and finish on Appledore Quay and fit in with high tide. A beautiful way to spend a summer morning, afternoon or evening, pottering up to Bideford Quay, passing Instow, sailing past Crow Point, may be down to Fremington Quay. Depending on the wind and tide, just have a relaxing time 'going with the flow'.
- Appledore Sails caters to those who wish for a gentle sail as well as those who wish to experience the strong tidal conditions found in the Bristol Channel.
- Appledore Sails caters for those who have never been on a sailing boat before and who would like the adventure of sailing the first time, either in the estuary or out to sea, as well catering for experienced sailors.
- Appledore Sails caters for those wishing to go out for a few hours, the day, for a few days or longer.
- Appledore Sails is the only company on the North Cornwall / Devon / Somerset coast which charters skippered sailing boats.
- Appledore Sails hopes to provide you with a unique adventure. We do not crowd as many people onto the boat as possible. Normally this will be a family, a couple, or a small group of friends.
- Appledore Sails hopes its guests will want to join in with sailing of the boat, within their abilities. Even first timers can take the tiller and pull a few ropes!
- Appledore Sails is elite, is special and provides time and experience for you.
